Behind the name... Life's Peachy
Cory Peach, my idol. In my teens I competed at a national level in the sport of wakeboarding (waterskiing). At my first National Championship competition in Canberra at the age of 12, we met Cory Peach, who was also from Perth. Cory was 5 years older then me at the time, and was incredible at Wakeboarding. My dad and I instantly hit it off with Cory, and Dad proceeded to invite Cory wakeboarding on our boat back in Perth, as Cory didn’t have a boat or a consistent time to wakeboard.
As we returned home, Cory, a confident, well spoken, kind, helpful & all round good bloke, came out on the boat with us at Bonney’s Waterski Park. It soon turned into a regular gig.
After Cory finished work at Austal Ships, he would head down to Bonneys, as my Dad and I would head there straight from finishing school. I loved it, Cory, being an amazing wakeboarder would coach me first, then i would get to watch him go crazy on the wakeboard afterward. He soon became my idol. He always knew how to make me feel important and help me to try better myself.
Cory was all about having a good time, as much as he loved training, and pushing himself to the limits while he was wakeboarding, Cory had many friends & everyone through the wakeboard community loved hanging out with Cory.
A few years went by, our relationship grew.
On Friday, July 7, 2006, Dad and I were waiting for Cory & his mate Joel, with the boat on the end lake of Bonney’s waterski Park, very close to the main road that leads into the park, off of Mundijong Road. Cory was running late. An hour later, Dad and I heard this massive bang, crash & screeching from the road nearby.. I decided to walk out to the road and see what has happened. As i walked up closer to what looked like something had fallen off the back of a truck, i soon realised it was Cory’s car. Cory had been T-boned by an overtaking car travelling 140km/h. Running over screaming and unsure whether to try help them or go get my Dad, i soon realised that it was over. I will never forget this day. Cory was killed instantly by the impact.
My life changed forever after this day. Cory was a massive part of my life at the time, and shaped me into the person i am today. I promised myself i would make Cory proud and continue his legacy, of making people feel special, and helping them be the best versions of themselves.
I made it my mission to follow in his foot steps, i dream big, i work hard, but always remember to have a good time.
Cory was well loved through the local wakeboarding community. He touched many many hearts, and after his passing, the community created a movement called ‘Life’s Peachy’.
Life’s Peachy is basically Cory’s legacy, it means being the best version of ourselves, being kind to the people around us & being grateful for what we have in life.
When i decided to create my own brand & fitness facility, i knew from the beginning that i would choose this name. It means so much. Life’s Peachy.
RIP Cory Peach.
I miss you everyday.
